Hotel Review: W San Fransisco

The intricate design and modern elegance of each W Hotel worldwide never seizes to disappoint. Late June, I stayed at the W Hotel in San Francisco for a few nights. If you are a first time visitor to San Francisco, I would always recommend visiting the city throughout the summer months. It’s warm enough to spend the day exploring, yet still has that famous breeze that makes the city what it is.

Check In:

I arrived at the hotel at approximately 9 AM. The entire check in process took less than 5 minutes and the front desk staff was extremely welcoming. As an SPG Platinum member, they were kind enough to upgrade me to their top tier suite, “The Extreme WOW” for two nights. I had something to do in the city for a few hours, so I was able to leave my bags with the front desk and they called me shortly to notify me that the room was ready.

Rooms:

I spent my first night in the Cool Corner Room and it had the most amazing view of the city, both a downtown and bay view. All the amenities were great, and the W is known for having the most amazing beds. I’ve always admired how intriguing all of their provided room amenities are, from the vanity packs with fun packaging from Bliss, to the range of stellar bar snack options. The Cool Corner Room is approximately 400 square feet, and their base rooms start at about 300 square feet. Having stayed at a numerous amount of San Francisco hotels with some rooms being less than 200 square feet, I would say the room space at the W is fantastic.

Upon transferring into the Extreme Wow Suite, I was truly wow’d. The room is about 900 square feet on the 31st floor with breathtaking views from every room. You could see almost every part of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge! The room has a full living room, bedroom, bar area, and two bathrooms. The design is sleek and is a perfect combination of incorporating the classic W style with the beauty of San Francisco. There are amazing art pieces throughout the room, including a full wall mural. My favorite amenities were the waterfall shower in the main bathroom and the Nespresso machine, but the full city view is really what makes this room breathtaking. The room is meant for entertaining and is the perfect place for any type of trip. Below are photos of the suite:

The Lobby Bar and lounge area is also a great place to relax before heading up to your room, or to come down to at midnight for dessert and a glass of wine. The lobby is one of the hotels best highlights because it truly is a very welcoming environment and has such a cozy vibe.

Food:

The hotel has one main restaurant right next to the lobby bar. I had breakfast there all three days and the food, service, and scenery was amazing. They put a nice twist on some traditional breakfast items, such as adding black truffle to scrambled eggs, and incorporate some California style healthy dishes, such as breakfast bowls.

The gym at the W is definitely the highlight of this hotel. It is the most vibrant and fun gym I have ever seen, and actually makes you want to spend your day working out there. The view of it from day to night is different, as the gym incorporates a lot of natural light and LED lights. I loved how they have a boxing station and gloves to use. It’s definitely a hip place to be and certainly adds to your workout motivation.

I’m counting down the days until I could be back in the beautiful city and stay at the W San Francisco. I would highly recommend this hotel due to all that it has to offer for your next stay in the city.
